This dark green felt hat has a leather strap and would have been worn by boys in the Irish youth movement Na Fianna Éireann. The ‘Fianna’ were well organised and, similar to Boy Scout groups in other countries at the time, went for regular training sessions, involving military drills and shooting. Constance Markievicz provided her Surrey House in Rathmines, Dublin, for the training sessions. At a later time, two paper Easter Lily badges were attached to the interior brim of the hat.
